distinctive interior design
Sustainability...a design imperative
Sustainability is a commonly used term these days in regard to interior design, but for most of us, it can be very hard to evaluate exactly what that means from one industry or product to the next. At its most basic level, sustainability is a sense of environmental stewardship, the knowledge that our actions impact the environment on many levels, and, by the choices that we make, we have the ability to preserve and protect our natural resources for future generations. While there are many varying approaches to "green" design, it is essential that the design community embrace these concepts.
Harden Furniture...a success story
Many furniture manufacturers have introduced “green” concepts into their business processes, but few have had quite as much success as Harden Furniture. A founding member of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), Harden is the only furniture manufacturer to own its own forestland and sawmill, controlling the entire process and ensuring that its tree stock is growing at a rate of four times faster than it is used. A family owned business, Harden's craftsmanship and classic style ensures that its furniture will be handed down from one generation to the next.

I have just returned from a long holiday in Florence, and my creative juices are flowing!! There is something so exciting and refreshing about spending time in a culture that places such a high value on aesthetics at every level. Whether it is the fruit and cheese artfully placed on a decorative plate, or the tantalizing displays in the shop windows, or the art beyond compare that graces the multitude of museums, beauty is everywhere in Italy. It is this culture of artistry that has inspired me, and what I hope to share with all of you.
